The trio Band au Neon took off in 2002, when three Italianmusicians based in Copenhagen, Denmark, for a number of years, finally hooked up. This encounter generated a wave of ideas and emotions that were transformed into a personal music style. Even though it seems easy to categorize it as jazz music, the live performances are characterized by a close contact with the audience through lyrical andmelodic tunes, presented with tasteful balance between the composed and the improvised sections
The presence of the bandoneòn recalls immediately the unmistakable sound of Argentinean Tango, however, due to the unusual constellation, it is yet presented in a modern key.
Different flavors and musical frames underline the soloists’ skills in this unique combo that melts into one organic and solid musical unity. Paolo Russo, bandleader and composer, uses both the piano and the bandoneòn to create the music and together with Francesco Calì on piano and accordion and Nico Gori on clarinet, will lead the audience through a journey across Italian tones, South European landscapes and an echo of Argentinean Tango
The Band au Neon has played throughout the past years a number of concerts in Denmark, Sweden and Italy, achieving increasing consents among audience and critics. After their first acclaimed CD “Oltretango” (2005), they present now their new album “I lSegreto”, a live recording from their last tour in Scandinavia.

Trioen Band au Neon opstartede, i 2002 da tre italienske musikere fandt sammen om en fælles kærlighed til musik og deres hjemland.Dette møde frembragte en bølge af følelser og idéer, som efterhånden har taget form og blevet til Band au Neons helt særlige stil. For et dansk øre befinder vi os i jazzens verden, men deres l ive-opt ræden karakteriseres ved en tæt og nær følelsesmæssig kontakt med publikum, gennem lyriske middelhavs kompositioner, præsenteret meden smagfuld balance mellem selve kompositionen og frie improvisationer.
Ved tilstedeværelsen af instrumentet bandoneónen, hører man
den umiskendelige lyd af argentinsk tango, men samtidigt, takket
være den usædvanlige konstellation, bliver den præsenteret i en
moderne klang.
Forskellige musikalske krydderier og musikalske rammer
understreger de 3 solisters dygtigheder, og disse færdigheder bliver
sammensmeltet til ét element og én organisk solid musikalsk helhed.
Paolo Russo, som også er trioens kapelmester, bruger både klaveret
og bandoneonen til at skabe og farve musikken. Sammen med
Francesco Calì, der bl.a. spiller på klaver og harmonika og Nico Gori
på klarinet, vil musikerne føre publikum på en rejse gennem italienske
toner, sydeuropæiske landskaber og nemlig et ekko af argentinsk
tango.
I 2007 startede Band au Neon (Paolo og Francesco) et
samarbejde med DR Underholdnings Orkestret i et projekt omkring
tango musikken (Tango trip), de har optradt over hele Danmark og var
med i Den Store Juleshow på DR1 i december 2007.
Band au Neon har igennem de sidste år
spillet mange koncerter i Danmark, Sverige og
Italien, og efterhånden har de fået opbygget sig
stor følgeskare. De har udgivet deres første og
meget anmelder roste plade “Oltretango” i 2005
og er nu på vej med nyt album, ”Il Segreto”,
udgivet af det nye danske pladeselskab ”Bro-
Recordings” i September 2009.
